Broadway Breakout Jacob Pham Returns to Ovations for a Full Circle Moment

Jacob Pham’s return to Ovations Repertory Company this weekend marks a full‑circle moment for a young artist whose journey began on the very stage he now revisits. After captivating Tampa audiences as Simba at Ovations’ The Lion King and then stepping into the same role on Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre for the 2024–2025 season, he comes home to perform as the Scarecrow in The Wiz. His homecoming is more than a casting announcement; it’s a celebration of the artistic ecosystem that helped shape him.

That journey traces back to Ovations’ earliest days, when Ovations first opened in Tampa in 2020 and Pham appeared as Bert Healy in the company’s first production, Annie in 2021. What began as a child’s first role quickly became the foundation of a long, formative relationship between a rising performer and the company that nurtured his growth.

Ovations has long been known for nurturing performers who combine discipline, artistry, and heart. The studio’s training model, rooted in strong technique and a belief in every student’s potential, has created an environment where young dancers grow into confident, expressive performers. From ballet and jazz to hip-hop, tap, and contemporary, students receive a foundation that prepares them for both the stage and the wider world.

At the center of this training is founder and artistic director Orlando Peña, whose vision has guided Ovations since its earliest days. His commitment to developing young artists has produced a generation of performers who carry the Ovations standard into competitions, professional stages, and Broadway. Pham’s achievements reflect the strength of that foundation and the collaborative support of teachers, families, and a community that believes in the power of the arts.

Pham’s path from Ovations to New York shows the breadth of his talent. Beyond his Broadway run, he has appeared in A Christmas Story at the CTGLA Theater in Los Angeles, earning an Outstanding Child Ensemble Award from Stage Scene LA. His work spans television and voiceover as well, including appearances on Sesame Street and projects for Disney TV Animation and Nickelodeon. Each step demonstrates the versatility and professionalism that Ovations instills in its students.

His return to the company is a moment of pride for Tampa’s arts community. It highlights the importance of local training programs that give young performers the skills, confidence, and opportunities to pursue their dreams. Ovations continues to be a place where talent is discovered, nurtured, and celebrated—and Pham’s journey is a reminder of what can happen when a young artist is supported from the very beginning.

As he steps back onto the Ovations stage, audiences will see not only a gifted performer but also the result of years of dedication from a studio committed to excellence. His homecoming is a tribute to the teachers who guided him, the community that cheered for him, and the next generation of Ovations dancers who now see their own possibilities reflected in his success.
